I Melt With Her

Ever had a beautiful moment that you wanted to share "from the highest mountain tops"? I feel it's usually tacky to share these moments because of the intimacy involved, and they are typically reserved as steam room banter exchanged between men of tawdry caliber.  Regardless, my near-crude behavior is saved by the fact that I am crippled in my search to find words to do it justice.  Not to sound like an 80's flashback, but all I can say at this moment is that I really wished I was able to melt with her.
Stuff like this is why I think people are delusional and think the media has an Obama bias when all of Hillary's equal, or worse, stories don't make the front page - from comments her pastor makes, to Mark Penn (Clinton's chief campaign strategist) meeting with Colombia's ambassador to discuss a trade pact that Hillary supposedly opposes.  The latter, IMO, is far beyond Obama's Canada-gate, and it made a small, easily over-looked article on the WSJ's A-3 page.  The ones about Hillary that make the front page are articles that most people will write off, like the $109 million dollars reported since 2001.  Granted, it's important, but most people won't care enough to pursue it.  Then there's also John King's softball pitches to Hillary at one of the debates.

*UPDATE*
There's a new issue with the story Hillary tells during her speeches about the Ohio woman who dies because she was denied health care.  You can read more here.  I guess it's a good thing she already pulled Ohio.

Safari 3 New Tab

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
Inspired by the "10.4: Make a New Tab button for Safari's toolbar" article on macosxhints.com, I decided to write my own using the latest Mac OS X Leopard Xcode and Safari 3.

Disclaimer: I try my best to write things that everyone understands.  However, I also realize there are different levels of comprehension.  So I won't make any guarantee that this will work for you.  If you have an older version of Xcode (like I do for my BlacBook) then refer to the macosxhints.com article - it worked for me.

Note 1:  Backup Safari
Note 2:  Install XCode

  1. Open Safari's package contents (control-click and select Show Package Contents)
  2. Navigate into Contents/Resources/English.lproj
  3. Double-click ToolbarItems.nib to open it with Interface Builder
  4. Click on the "First Responder" icon in the window labeled "ToolbarItems.nib"
  5. Press Command-Shift-I to bring up the Inspector window (if it's not already open)
  6. In the Inspector window, press Command-6 to make sure you're looking at "First Responder Identity" tab
  7. Under "Class Actions," click "+" and create a new item called "newTab"
  8. Press Command-5 to make sure you're looking at "First Responder Connections" tab
  9. Double-click on the "Window" icon in the "ToolbarItems.nib" window to display the buttons
  10. Click on the "First Responder" icon in the window labeled "ToolbarItems.nib" again to show the list of connections again
  11. Click and hold the circle to the right of the "newTab" entry and drag-and-drop onto the bookmark button (big letter "A" next to the "Go to this address" block
  12. Press Command-S to save
  13. Press Command-Q to quit the Interface Builder app
  14. Run Safari and enjoy your "new tab" button

I found this on one of the blogs I read (Cynical-C):

I'm F*cking Obama

This article is surprising, but then again it isn't.  I can't see any reason to distribute propaganda, or harass people with different viewpoints in a free country.  It's not surprising because it validates some things that I've been pondering for awhile - the removal of inalienable rights.

Funny ... I don't feel any different.  Am I supposed to hunch over and force myself to act like like one of those bitter old people I used to see on the bus? I never understood why people allow themselves to fall into that mental trap.  It's also funny to see people in my age group using their age as some exclusive membership tool that only other 40 year olds will understand.  I don't need people in my age group to validate whatever transition is expected of me, I see no reason to befriend people half my age to hold on to childhood memories, or balance both so I can feel some pseudo advantage that really isn't there.

Hello 40, it's nice to meet you.  However, don't expect me to fit into some crippled image that some adults (who haven't progressed beyond their screwed-up upbringing) seem to have.  I refuse to allow my, or someone else's, screwed-up childhood color the life I will have at any age.

I can handle driving a car because I feel I have at least some control as to where my car will crash, and I can handle sailing on a boat because I know how to tread water and swim, but I don't have any sense of control from flying in a plane.  I know there have been a few close calls recently, but that doesn't ease me in the slightest because pilots, like drivers, are all different.  I'm glad that I've been able to keep my apprehension about flying in check around my kids because they might be flying soon, and I don't want them to turn out like me.  What's really funny to me is that even though I have a fear about something, I can still push through with it as if it doesn't matter.  I've met too many people who will refuse to eat a pea, yet I can get myself in a pressurized tube where there's a possibility, however slight, that I could plummet to my death.  Good night, Fredericksburg, hope to be back from my day trip to Florida tomorrow.

I thought Obama's speech was great.  Unfortunately there are a lot of arrogant people who dismiss his points, which, IMO, shows their lack of intellect.  Their actions also prove his points, giving his speech more credence.  I know I'm not the smartest person in the world, and I also don't completely trust politicians, but I feel I'm the only one who's able to see that both Democratic candidates are on equal footing.  Neither have ever been President, so the experience question is pointless.  Since we know that neither have held the highest office in our country, how can we honestly say whether or not they will be able to work with congress, succeed in Iraq, or help the economy? We can't.  A person who says otherwise is nothing more than an ignorant fool.  I'm just amazed that people can ignore the elephant in the room.  I'm voting for Obama for multiple reasons that mean a lot to me, including these two:  1. his message of uniting the country, and 2. the new style of politicking - even during debates he doesn't talk down to his opponents or ridicule their positions. The second point, to me, shows that there's some sincerity to what he's saying.

I’ve decided to take another hiatus from the droning of "Helter Skelter" and try my hand at another artistic masterpiece … book 1 from the "Sword of Truth" series that Kate so fondly speaks of.  I will admit that it isn’t bad, and I found myself dragging it to two of my 10 o’clock appointments today.  It seems to have an easy high school-ish style; I can’t help but reflect on some of my years as an abrasive non-adult as I read it.  Anyway, good story so far, and I’m happy to get this post out of the way so I can get back to reading - which is probably the reason I forgot to write something yesterday.

"People annoy the piss out of me!" I think that should be my new motto because everyday I come across someone who "annoy[s] the piss out of me!" I can’t count how many times I’ve posted a comment that either gets deleted or doesn’t get approved.  Most times I blog what I comment and where I posted it, and if they don’t allow it then I post about that too; if they do allow it then I amend my post accordingly.  This time around I decided not to blog about a recent comment because I felt that person would’ve been open-minded and allowed it to go through.  However, like with Dooce and her husband, I was censored because I said something they didn’t like.  No wonder people are screwed up today, no one wants to say something that will get them alienated from the "cool kids."  Because of what she posts about I thought Violet Blue was a pretty open-minded person.  However, she’s no different than people who want to censor her message on sexuality.  As for me, I try to be a free speech person.  I admit that I moderate comments on my site, but the only things I don’t allow are spam and psychotic rantings.  Saying that I used to like Margaret Cho but don’t anymore because I think she’s a hypocrite, to me, isn’t on par with denying the rights of 2 consenting same-sex adults to wed (try as one might to say otherwise, the concept of marriage didn’t originate in any monotheistic belief system) or people to follow whatever religion they choose without prejudice, except where other people are negatively affected, like children, animals, and people who haven’t given consent.  Why do I feel so alone among people that I feel should understand?

I've really had my fill of paparazzi photos and videos.  I used to like them for the quick glimpses and red carpet pics, but lately it's just trash.  Why do I care about someone's thong showing or what they're drinking, and the oopsie shot is passe' (tip:  anything after a "first time" gets put into the "Pet Rock" category).  What sealed it for me was how invasive the paparazzi are; seriously, why do they need to swarm around cars, which affects other drivers' safety, just to get a pic of someone?
